Here at Horsehaven, we believe a well-trained horse lives a long and healthy, happy life. An owner is more apt to sell a difficult horse and unfortunately, often to other uninformed owners and a vicious cycle begins. This poor horse who is doing nothing more than being a herd animal and speaking to the humans around him in "horse speak" is punished incorrectly and sold and re-sold until he almost certainly ends up at slaughter because he has been deemed "Dangerous".
This does not have to happen! Of course every horse is different and has a personality just like we do. Solange's real ability is to put together the right horse with the right rider and show them the best way they can be a team. Ask yourself....Am I a long-distance runner or a sprinter? Do I want to work in a highly structured environment or do I need a lot of freedom to make my own decisions? Say you have decided you are a long distance runner and like to make your own decisions. Now, your boss has decided that since you are a Thoroughbred you will race. So you are now going to do the exact opposite of what you want...run short and hard and have no say in any decisions. Will you be happy? Of course not. But, what if someone picked up on your unhappiness and felt you would be better in the field fox hunting....going for hours over a good distance and being able to make decisions about your gaits and speeds? Now, you're a happy, happy horse with an equally happy owner. This is what Solange does!
We have placed many horses with our students and have a 100% success rate. Not only do we find the right horse for you but, stay for the ownership part and help with all decisions that first-time owners have. What bit do I use? What can I do safely with my horse now and how can I reach my goals with him later? How do I buy safe tack that will be effective on MY horse? One size does not fit all and incorrect or the unintended omission of important pieces of tack can ruin a horse. Or worse, the use of tack that is unsafe due to old age or cheap manufacturing.
