Over the years we have had many phone calls from people asking if we would take in their horse for one reason or another. We are not a rescue organization and will never be one.
Still we feel it is our obligation to help when we can. All of the horses listed have been placed in loving homes or are still at Horsehaven Stables.
Pilot
Our newest rescue is Pilot. This intelligent and talented pony was rescued out of the slaughter pen at the Sugarcreek animal auction in Feburary of 2008. He then found his way to his "forever home" at Horsehaven Stables less than a month later. Solange is thrilled with his progress since then. She broke him to saddle in June and had him out on trail in August. By the middle of September he had made his debut in the foxhunting field. Solange then decided in October to enroll him in dressage lesson on whim feeling that it would help round out his over all training. He suprised both Solange and Sarah Diggen, his instructor, by catching on quickly and showing a spark of talent in the ring. We look forward to seeing what this little man will accomplish next!

Nikki
Our first and worst case yet, Nikki was starved to a point that we had never seen before. Once a beautiful registered strawberry roan Quarterhorse, she had been neglected for months and it showed. Once at Horsehaven she began to live again and after a few fitful starts is now a fat, shiny pampered girl in private ownership.

King Edward
Eddy is a 7 year old Standardbred that was blinded in an accident 1 1/2 years ago. It was recommended that he be put down immediately. The owner contacted us through a line of women who knew Solange and felt she would be able to help him. After settling in and allowing him to adjust not only to his blindness but, also to a new barn, Eddy has become a much loved horse. He can be turned out with his pal Poteen for exercise and was recently broke to ride by Solange and is up to taking a few tentative trotting steps. The only word we can use to describe him is brave. We hope to give him a real job one day so that he can live a complete and full life.
