We are happy to share a brief background on each of our instructors. With all the activity at the barn, we want to be able to keep up with everyone's busy schedule by providing outstanding instructors for all experience levels.

Meet the Instructors!

Solange

Solange began her riding career at the age of 8 and has never looked back. In 2000 she started Horsehaven Satbles with the help of her parents.

She began teaching professionally at 16 and broke her first horse at 17. You can see that horse " Sweet Baby James" the Arabian stallion at Horsehaven today.

An absolute love of teaching and a strong work ethic has brought her great success. She specializes in introducing the advanced students to the art of jumping in the barn and in the huntfield.

Even after teaching hundreds and hundreds of children and adults how to ride and dozens of horses how to be riding partners her love for her work as never diminished.

Kathleen

Born in this area, Kathleen left to pursue an Air force career and returned when Solange was born.

In her years as Barn Manager and founding member of Horsehaven Stables she has found a talent for sharing her knowledge and passion of horses. She teaches a classic and military style seat to her intermediate and adult students.

She has dedicated her life and career to bettering the lives of horses in Medina county. You can find her in the barn or on her trusted mount Seamus in the hunt field.

As a member with colors in the Chargin Valley Hunt, she is an avid supporter of the sport of fox hunting and can be seen often at the kennels with the hunt's English Foxhounds.

Rachael

Rachel Daw is thrilled to share her knowledge of and passion for horses with our beginning riders. A graduate from Hiram College and a 5th grade teacher in Brunswick, Rachel is currently busy working on a master’s degree in Education when she is not teaching at school or at the barn.

Rachel began riding horses at a young age and was lucky enough to own her first horse at age 12. She believes that riding and caring for horses helps individuals develop a great sense of responsibility and is thankful she had her Quarter Horse, Delana, to help her develop into a horsewoman.

Today Rachel can be seen enjoying daily rides on her 17 ½ hand Thoroughbred, Mr. Big. When Rachel is not teaching or riding, she and her husband enjoy hiking and camping with their two dogs. She thanks her father for supporting her love of horses and helping her to fulfill her passion for riding.

Lauren

Lauren has been riding at Horsehaven since she was 8. She owned her first horse, Generain, a 17 hand tall, black, off- the- track Thoroughbred when she was 11.

Currently, she has been riding Seamus in the barn and taking him on trail rides, and this year to the huntfield as well. Lauren teaches beginners at Horsehaven as an apprentice instructor with either Kathleen or Solange's supervision.

Lauren is a high school sophomore and intends to continue riding and teaching her entire life. Other than riding, she enjoys playing guitar and listening to a variety of music on her ipod. You can find Lauren in the barn wearing her bright red Hunter wellies!
